The Fossil Book By Gary Parker / New Leaf Press (Master Books) This excellent and informative work has been thousands of years in the making! It's the exciting story of fossils: How were they formed? Where are they found? How old are they? How are they extracted? A one-of-a-kind book, it explains how coal and oil are formed, how the Grand Canyon was created, how to interpret the geologic column from a creationist perspective, and how to identify various fossils. It refutes the horse and whale evolutionary models, explains the four Cs of biblical creation, and compares this model with evolution's model of time, chance, struggle, and death. Filled with scores of full-color photos and illustrations, you'll learn everything about fossils from a creationist perspective while also understanding the shortcomings of the evolutionary model of fossils. Author Dr. Gary Parker has not only a thorough education of paleontology, but also many years of experience in the field. Here are the scientific answers to the puzzling questions about fossils that even non-scientists can understand. Learn how to build your own fossil collection, including how to extract fossils, identify them, as well as how to store and display them. You'll also fund a full-color pull-out poster and a glossary and index for ease of reference. Recommended for ages 6 and up. |

Johannes Kepler, Sower Series Copernicus, Galileo, and Kepler are all great astronomers to study. We particularly enjoy this book. Also see above, under HisStory of Science, for compilations of shorter biographical sketches. Johannes Kepler considered his vast scientific studies as another way of looking into God's magnificent creation. He often became so excited with his discoveries that he would write songs of praise to God along with recording his findings in his scientific journals! In all of history there has never been another man like Johannes Kepler. A listing of his many accomplishments could not do justice to the exciting facts of his life. For ages 9 to 13. |

First Guide to the Universe Some evolutionary content, but we like this for the pictures for the younger children. |
|
Exploring Outer Space by Finke 30 Amazing Projects that Explore the Wonders of God's Creation We found some activites we liked in this. |
Witness of the Stars by Bullinger - look for published by Kregal This book has facinating information about the constellations, related biblically. Also available as free ebook. |
Voyage to the Planets by Bliss & DeYoung A fictional voyage into planetary space with 2 teens, their activites, research and questions for the captain as they explore. Also Voyage to the Stars (out of print also, no link, do a search) Says for teens, but older children do OK with it also as a read aloud. |
I also took an activity out of an old book (text available online), The Sciences: Book 1 Astronomy by Edward Holden, to demonstrate the planets to scale. (This is an interesting read aloud book, but contains some unbiblical, evolutionary material. Adapt or skip as necessary.) |
Below are a couple of books that we have not used, and I have not been able to review to see how compatible they are with L.E.D. and how much adapting they'd need. But they are popular with home educators, and I know and respect both of the authors, and they are advertised as all ages and/or Charlotte Mason styled. So if you've heard about them and are wanting to order them, I list them here for your convenience. The other is one we have - our edition is before the Teacher's Guide and CD, so I'm not sure how it is laid out now. It can be adapted to L.E.D. methods and covers all science topics for children.
